ONLINE SAFETY FOR KIDS

The revolutionary new way to protect your family online.

We help people just like you, assess what protection you need, get it in place and stay protected over time.

What Online Threats Are Targeting Young Children?

1. Screen Time

It seems smart phones and online games are seemingly as addictive for kids nowadays as opioids.... screen time is a real issue for families. Enforcing family time and no phones at dinner time etc can be tricky!

Every 30mins extra screen time leads to a 2.3x increase in the likelihood of your child developing a speech impediment (e.g. a stammer).

Screen time is not something that occurs overnight, the effects start to build when a life-style is built around technology. The key is not to try and manage screen time on a daily basis, but to try to build a family lifestyle that includes the balanced use of technology.

2. Sexual Predators

Unfortunately, online grooming is a bigger problem than ever. Gone are the days where sexual predators are lone wolfs acting on their own. We have reached a time where the advent of the dark web has given birth to a new ‘super-predator’.

The dark web provides a level of secrecy, anonymity and global connectedness that we have never experienced before.

Sexual predators have literally setup ‘training schools’ with thousands of networked like-minded individuals where they share tips and strategies on how to groom children the fastest, avoid law enforcement / parents, how to get nude media quickly and even methods on how to abduct the child.

3. Over-Spending

One way to get some peace and quiet as a parent is to give the kids your iPad and let them play games until their hearts are content. However, with gaming companies looking for more lucrative ways of generating revenue, this is now a financial minefield for parents as our little ones are tempted by expensive and addictive ‘in-app purchases’.

In-app purchases are extra content or features you can buy within the computer games themselves.

These could be extra guns in a shoot ’em up game or faster engines in a car racing game. Both paid for apps and free apps could have in-app purchases.

4. Inappropriate Content

Explicit content refers to kids accessing inappropriate media online (video, images or text) which has a harmful impact on them. We're not just talking about drugs or porn...

It could be as simple as your six year old son searching on your iPad for "pirates"...the results of which list several Youtube videos of Somali pirates boarding western oil tankers and they catch the start of the beheading of the ship's captain.

It could be an online game promoting self-harm or suicide. It could be adult ads on a mobile app.
